Patricia Apollonia Kotero has been an actress and model in America over a long period of time. Her most well-known role was co-starring in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain and for having been the main singer for the girl group Apollonia 6. Apollonia, a singer/actress christened by Prince in 1984, became one of the many female musicians of the 80s who benefitted from Prince. Patricia Kotero began her acting and modeling career in Santa Monica California, in the latter part of the 1970s. She also appeared on CHiPS. She was the lead female for Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (at the time he changed her name). The same year, she was replaced by Vanity as part of the trio Vanity 6 and was a part of them under the brand name Apollonia 6 in the film. Sex Shooter was a minor achievement for the group however she made a greater effect as the duet partner of Prince on Take Me with You on the soundtrack. After a disagreement regarding the direction she was taking in her career Apollonia 6 split up and Kotero quit her relationship with Prince. Kotero went on to be featured in several minor films during the period (reportedly not wanting to be in The Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) before landing an appearance on the evening-time drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia released her first album in 1988. However, it was not a great mix of dance and R&B music that failed to attract the attention of the general public. The album was quickly wiped completely from the public's view. The singer was still active, though she wasn't in the spotlight as an actor during the decade, albeit with minor roles in television and films. A workout DVD was made available. Apollonia released a bilingual album in Spanish and English named Stay With Me in 1997. Later on, following going back to college and obtaining the degree of filmmaking, she started her own production business. Apollonia has many hats. Formerly, she was a model, singer actress and talent supervisor. Purple Rain, the 1984 film that she was in, is her most recognizable performance. She has also appeared on TV shows and in movies like Black Magic Woman. Kotero debuted her career as a model. Kotero has been a part of numerous competitions and pageants.
